Enrique Trevino
The Cypress Junior Cotillion is proud to provide our students with the most unique and complete cotillion experience—the best of the best. With that said, we are very proud to present Mr. Enrique Trevino, a ballroom dance instructor with over twenty years of experience in dance and the entertainment industry. Mr. Trevino brings many strong teaching techniques with a unique style and talented choreography to our community.
Mr. Trevino greatly enjoys teaching, loves the art of dance and has a thorough teaching style which helps his students excel in their dancing. He wants to be able to pass along to others the great joys of dancing as he feels he has been blessed with individuals in his life that were willing to do the same.
Mr. Trevino is excited to be a part of the Cypress Junior Cotillion.
Growing up with dancing in his family, Mr. Trevino had many opportunities to learn dancing socially as well as training since the age of 13 in Laredo, Texas with Silvia Zuniga, a well-known trainer. During high school he was in several musicals with the Laredo Little Theatre. When he was 18, he moved to Austin and danced in a Hip-Hop troupe while attending school. At age 25, Mr. Trevino started teaching ballroom in Houston with Woodway Dance Center as part of their well-known ballroom dance staff. There he studied under William T. Ray and Sunny Williamson, both highly accomplished former competitors and now renowned adjudicators. Because of his desire to be the best, he actively participates in ballroom dance competitions and showcase numbers. He often travels to Dallas, San Antonio and Austin to participate in the ballroom dance circuit.
In 1998 and 2000, Mr. Trevino was honored to have been selected the choreographer for the Laredo Country Club’s Governor’s Ball in Laredo, Texas. This debutante occasion had daughters presented by their fathers. The young ladies danced a lovely Waltz followed with a very special dance presentation which was dedicated to the fathers by the daughters. The parents and attendees thoroughly enjoyed the accomplishments of these prestigious events.
Most recently, Mr. Trevino showcased his teaching ability as the choreographer for the recent movie, Dancing in Twilight, starring Mimi Rogers and Eric Avari. The movie won the Gold Medal of Excellence for a Feature Film Score at the Park City Film Music Festival and was a 2005 Platinum REMI Winner at the 38th Worldfest Houston Film Festival.
Mr. Trevino is co-director and partner of Dance Train Houston and the Dance Network - specializing in placing people with appropriate instructors for learning to dance for weddings, galas , receptions and special events. He is versed in various social and competitive dance styles, as well as performance material and choreography for video and special events. Ballroom dances such as Waltz, Fox Trot and Tango are some of the more formal dance styles that are taught. Rhythm dances like Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Merengue, Mambo, Salsa, East Coast Swing & Jitterbug are also part of the regular repertoire as well as Country-Western dances like Two Step, Polka and West Coast Swing.
